Some Days

Some days you don’t do anything
other than the most important.
Rocking a feverish, sick child to sleep.
Sitting beside the bed of an aged parent
whose final days have come.
Being the shoulder
for a friend in despair.
Nothing else gets done.
It’s ok friend.
You are attending to the most important.
Not every day is like this
but today is one of those some days.
And these some days,
these days of doing nothing
other than the most important,
they are days where we discover
a burning bush in our midst.
A sacredness that only exists in these some days,
where we care for the soul of another.
Dwell in this some day,
and take in the holy work you are doing.
